Hawaii has always been a well known holiday destination for people all over the world. Located at the centre of the Pacific Ocean towards the north, it is an archipelago of islands belonging to the United States of America. The beautiful beaches make Hawaii tourism so popular. A tour to Hawaii can guarantee you a memorable and truly enjoyable experience.
Hawaii is an archipelago of over 100 islands. However, Hawaii tourism is restricted to only 6 of these islands, each unique and different from the other; namely Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Lanai and Hawaii. The main island of Hawaii is also known as the Big Island. There are two other islands, the Niihau and Kahoolawe, the former being a private island while the latter is an uninhabited one. Even though these islands do not comprise the major ones, they are not considered as travel destinations. There are several big cities situated on these islands. Some of them include Hilo, Wailuku, Lihue, Kailua, Kahuku, Kailua-Kona, Holualoa etc.
Hawaii, the Big Island is the largest and the youngest island. The island has some of the world's largest mountains. Being located on the Pacific ring of Fire, the islands also have the world's most active volcano, some continually erupting. Hawaii tourism flourishes all the more owing to the numerous beach resorts. Some of the popular beach resorts of Hawaii include Kailua-Kona, Waipio, Hilo, South Coast, Kohala, Kona Hai, Hilo Tropical Gardens, Akaka Falls, Kahakai National Historic Trail, Ka'u Desert and many more. Among all of these, the most important part of Hawaii tourism is visiting the Hawaii Volcanoes national park that must not be missed on a Hawaii tour.
The major cities like Lanai and Oahu and Maui have popular destinations to visit where you can take part in several activities and have fun. The city of Lanai for example has one of the largest pineapple plantations in the world. There are some exclusive resorts located at Lanai. They have a lot of activities like scuba diving, and a colorful nightlife which will make your stay at the resort memorable and enjoyable. The famous 'Pearl Harbour' and the Waikiki Beach is located in the city of Oahu. The capital of Hawaii, Honolulu is also located on the island of Oahu. Other places of visit and activities include visiting Arizona national memorial, surfing and just lounging around in the beach.
It is said that the origin of modern day surfing comes from this city of Waikiki. The dormant volcano Haleakala, one of the largest in the world is located in the "valley isle" of Maui. This island is home to a number of sandy beaches. The coastlines of this island are spectacular to look at. There are also places like Wailua River, Coconut Coast, Mount Waialeale, Na Pali Coast, Waimea Canyon etc. The Kalauppa National Historic Park, Molokai Museum and cultural centre, are other attractions located on the Molokai Island. There are activities galore in Hawaii ranging from Mule rides, kayaking, and horseback riding to surfing, hula and scuba diving.
